Friday night …. wid my Ras buddy at the local Chinese, couple gal walked by wid alright bodies, so, man was clockin’ but, I ended up leaning on a car, … A next fit ting in her heel etc, approaches, and, rather than, just ask me to get off her car as she was about to leave …..

I got a verbal tongue-lashing as if the car was her f’ing mudda & I did leaning on her for sumthin’ !!!

…. by the time I repied, she was in the car and off … now Ras quickly explained to me that if she had seen the car I am drivin’, her reaction would, most likely have been very different, his view, pre-judgment & a fukry day caused her outburst ……

Worse thing was that, she was actually very sexy … but, bwoy what a f’ing mout & attitude !!!!!
…. Women wonder why the usage of, “Bitch”, has become so common in todays’ world …. !?! ….

It becomes apparent that, anyone speaking out about racism, who isn’t part of the authorities, who are the main perpetrators, gets shot down REAL QUICK, for talkin’ it !!!

However, when those who know it, and feel it …..

Speak about it, where …..

…… they perhaps shouldn’t … !!! … in front of people who could, apportion suffering to the voiceless sufferers of racist practices, they tend to get pressure, not from the oppressors, (until their views get mass attention), but, from the sufferers … ?????

I’m not sure Sol Campbell is the best individual to be speaking on racist practices in English football, but hey, I guess he’s better than no-one doing it !!!!!
Thus, last night I went to a gig for a group of artists, some young, some older, some bursting with energy, others, less so, playing a set of covers of some very popular black music, for a predominantly white crowd. A crowd of what appeared to be, the wealthier collective of now, fully Bajan families, with a heritage in the island.

Hmmmm …..

Yeah, when you hear that these people have a steeped history in the island, the bells of slavery start chiming in my ears, but hey, as i’ve said, it doesn’t seem as though Bajan blacks give a rasshole, so, it’s cool with me, as, to this point, I’ve yet to feel the lashings of a slavemasters’ belt, just those of my volatile father, when I stepped out of line, in my youth !!!

Hmmmmm ….. it never occurred to me, but, evidently, this form of beating, that many black children have suffered from their parents, has it’s slavery connections. ……

Anyway, moving on, upon my arrival, the customary, looks of shock, were then accompanied by a sense of discomfort for certain white folks, FOOLS … !!!

So few believing that I l could be residing, right in the belly of plantation wealth, ahhh … the classic Bajan thing of stereotyping & pre-judging, rather than doing the right thing, introducing themselves & then asking the question they, so clearly, desperately, want the answer to !!!!!

The crew who met me last week, were quick to spot me & greet me, which again, brought, quite a shock to some of the surrounding white folks !!!

It always makes me laugh how my appearance has this affect on people of both, black & white descent. My friends’ wife & I got into conversation whilst we listened to Hubby blow his horn, sax, to be precise, to great affect & appreciation from the circle of people, who were, apparently including, individuals from the Sandy Lane, no less, as well as prospective event organisers & music connected bods !!!!!

Wifey was quickly ensuring that I got introduced to as many of her white circle of friends as possible, not a problem, even though it could have come across as though I was her pet project !!!! Ha Ha …. !!!!!

No offence taken Mrs. R ….

I am taking her efforts as an attempt to make me feel comfortable, but, as I said to her last night, my silence & cool demeanour does not indicate an unsettled soul, if anything, it’s a better thing than to see me raring up & getting overly vocal !!!

I guess it’s always gonna amaze me to hear white folk speak with broad Bajan accents, even when they are so reminiscent to those, South Western English folk of Cornwall, it’s just freaky hearing it !!!!!

Anyway, the customary handshakes & looks of astonishment were apparent, when, ofcourse, my prim & proper English accent was heard, almost as if some of the white peeps didn’t know how to speak after hearing me …….. Again, how strange, but, it’s a very good strange, because it’s almost as if they hear something that just, shouldn’t be, a black man who speaks the mother tongue, as well as, if not, better than them !!!!!
