Okay folks, having presented the lady below, whose convo, apparently got her into hot water, in my previous post …

I am pleased to say that in connecting with the growing, “Pablo Donte’s”, massive, it has been a place where conversations with the ladies have increased my awareness of an undercurrent of concerns, that, envelope much of what I have spoken of previously, as well as some, deeper rooted issues, that, again, i’m pleased to say, i’m not alone in having.

However, let’s get this clear ladies, when people are performing, it’s time to listen, talking to me can be done at any bar when wunnah feel that you’re ready to hang with the V …. Schmuurrrrkkk ….

…. but in all seriousness, I really do mean that … !!!

It is clearly, very difficult for a lot of Bajans, to stand up in front of an audience & speak their mind, so, when they do, brilliant or not, do them the courtesy of listening … !!!!!

You might actually learn something, or better still, recognise, that what you feel about sharing, publicly, we all have had to go through, as artists, and, in all honesty, in my case, I still do !!!

Fear of failure, poor performance, or, simple, straight & plain, stage fright !!!

It may be due to the subject matter you want to share, it may just be, because the audience makes you feel intimidated.

Audiences, be you artists yourselves, or otherwise, don’t be shy to show love when you feel something, I keep re-iterating this, because audiences are so fickle these days.

Alternatively, if you ain’t feelin’ something, let people know. Silence is the generally accepted indicator, that, your chit didn’t go down well, but, if you really ain’t feelin’ it …

… Let people know … !!!!!

As I always say, it ain’t a crime to speak your mind … !!! …

… have we become so politically correct that booing is now seen as unnecessary & ignorant !!!!!

You’ll soon know if you’re in the minority, in making such an action, as other audience members, i’d like to believe, will let you know !!!

Look at something like the WWE … they have made superstars out of people whose persona has become hated so much, that, perversely, they end up being loved.

This can sometimes be due to a U-turn in the villains behaviour, as it can also be for artists, a catalyst which forces them to up their game, and prove to the haters, that, as much as the hating may have been warranted before, “It ain’t no more !!!!!”

Those days at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, proved that point right … ??? … People who had a hook or clown, drag them off stage, in most cases, disappeared, never to be seen again, but, the ones who came back, came back stronger & better for their … “Baptism of Fire !!!”.

We’ve all been there at some point, thankfully, not too many times for me, but, those nights when you’re off, can really be soul destroying, so, as an audience, you have a minimal duty to let artists know how you feel about what they’ve shared with you, especially artists, who, don’t have a big marketing machine to basically, MAKE YOU …. like them !!!

I sat with Keoma, “Rhy Minister”, Mallett, last night, and did just that, which, thankfully, he appreciated, this is what constitutes support people !!!

All this … su su su … Chinese Whispers Business, can be very damaging to an artistes’ ability, to develop themselves.

I have been to numerous shows & gigs, over the years, and know for a fact, that, if i’ve taken time out of my life to go see someone perform, they better have their chit down, or, i’m gonna be vex about it, but, if they were tight, i’m gonna buy some merchandise, try & speak with them, if at all possible, and let em’ know that, they need to keep on doing what they’re doing.

This reminds me of an old story, but, a good’un, having just posted a performance of his at the Toronto Manifesto festival 2011, it’s only fitting to pay tribute to Rakim, one of the greatest pioneers & exponents of ….

Having seen him some years ago at Subterranea, in Ladbroke Grove, my friends & I were amazed to find, that, he was standing in the street after the show, chatting with patrons & fans alike. We ended up shaking hands & having a brief exchange with him, in which, he, before we could say anything about it, asked if we felt the show … ???

He did it in such a humble way, that, I for one, felt truly blessed to have met him, it was like, as brilliant an artist as he had become accustomed to hearing, he still wanted to hear it from us, his fans, as if to say,

“Yo, your opinion really matters !!!!!”

A lesson for us all, keep your ego in check, don’t get carried away with your artistry, and remember, above all else, you are a human being, like everybody else !!!

I have digressed completely here, but, the point of a blog is to go with what flows out of your mind right !!!!!

So …..

Anyway, I had a convo’ with a young lady who seemed most disappointed that I had nothing to share, performance wise, last night !!! She seemed to have been suitably inspired by the piece I performed last week, “Difference”, which is, I guess, one of those pieces of art that touches people, because of it’s all encompassing messages.

However, when I then had a quick smoke with her, it became apparent to me, that, she has a great many things on her chest, that, she felt the need to express to me last night, almost as if no-one talks with her on such, serious levels !!!

It went from issues of who, we, as black people, follow, and listen to attentively, to the very nature of who runs Barbados.

Consolidated Finances share availability, to, simply, the issues of colour and skin tones that gain respect, ahead of our own darker skinned sisters & brothers.

She was a lil’ bit tipsy, so, the angst in her convo’ was so evident, that, I could now see why she felt what I presented, because it made her reflect on all the things she thinks about, but, does not say in public.

There it is again Bajans …….

STOP THAT FUKRY … !!!!!

No wonder there are so many issues with people here, when the people choose to carry them, rather than, air them & vent that which, essentially, can cause, serious damage to your very being !!!!!

I saw something in her, which was not pleasing, yet, in a perverted way, was somewhat heartening.

A fire & a passion, which, contrary to her belief, I stated, she should find a way, to express. Whether she does so, or not, time will tell, but, hopefully, she’ll do it, without the need of liquor or drugs !!!!!

Then, I ended up speaking to a younger lady who had performed, but, in this instance, shall remain nameless, because her story was a lil’ deeper, than the average bear …. Yogi, being that bear !!!!!

Our conversation embarked upon her, seemingly, advanced thinking, for one so young.

Thoughts about issues, such as relationships, and, being brought up in what could be deemed to be a rough part of town.

Ivy …. St. Michael ….

Hmmm, well, as I explained to her, having been through the notorious, “Pine”, during the day yesterday, I am far from being unaware of such places & am always interested to hear about these areas in Bim.

She seemed a lil’ surprised, but, quickly recognised, that, the sugar coating of things, is something that, I really, CAN’T STAND !!!!!

How can someone learn … ??? … if they are wrapped up in a sheath of, let’s say, “Silver Linings”, when the clouds are gathering ….

So, then we spoke about a piece she posted on Facebook, that, essentially, speaks of the struggles of a woman, who, by all accounts, had endured many relationship issues, some, of her own making, and some, that could be put on her male counterparts, who had become involved with her.

I was actually a lil’ surprised to hear that this was about someone she knew, who, as she stated, is not a close friend of hers, but, who, she felt no qualms about writing about.

It then came to light, that, said woman, had basically become such a problem in these mens’ lives, that, personal suffering, including suicide, had become part of these mens lives & sadly, deaths.

A black widow indeed … !!!

… Now, I have been very scathing of women, not just since arriving in Barbados, but, over the years, probably because i’m not one for pussy ahead of honesty !!!

I’ve lost many a woman due to telling them those things, most men keep from them until they’ve got their dick wet …. Although, now, as i’ve said to male friends of mine over the years, it has proven to be a valuable defence mechanism, in keeping these beautiful temptresses out of my space …..

More fool me right fellas … !?! …

… however, the level of honesty in this particular girl has impressed me to a degree, she’s a pretty one, so, I reserve judgement until I see a bit more of her general demeanour, but, it is always highly interesting to speak with girls & women, who aren’t afraid to air, what they know to be, the failings of women around them, which, may well reflect upon their own demeanour ???

I hope this isn’t the case, but, having had one Bajan girl prove herself to be less than honest about her status & movements, until the horse had bolted.

I have to say that, as time wears on, I am not feeling as though I owe any apologies to any of y’all ladies, for things that I have said & will continue to say, when given, categoric evidence, that supports what is true !!!

I saw a Facebook post, that suggested that insults, or essentially, opinions, don’t matter, unless the insulted, values your opinion …..

Hmmmm …. well, as the world turns, I have seen, even down to last night, women who, only value opinions that fit with their own ideals. That’s neither fair, nor right, in my view.

Ladies, it’s time so stop holding onto false ideals & insecurities !!!!!

I have in recent times, seen womens’ insecurities as being, their biggest problem,

The one whose insecurities need to be nurtured, embraced & steadily diminished.
The one whose opinions come from the heart …..
The one who …. DOES NOT SEEK …. attention

The one who seeks & more importantly ….

GIVES LOVE …. WITHOUT CONDITION …. !!!!!

These are the things that fuel deep and meaningful relationships, in my view, and as this piece was initially meant to reflect upon ……

These are the things that fuel & inspire art to be the beautiful, enlightening, uplifting thing …. that can touch … US ALL !!!!!
